Your first visit to a food pantry

From the Greater Cleveland Food Bank's find-food map, checked October 19.

Our take written by Old Brooklyn Free Pantry Finder

GCFB says the usual pantry asks for photo ID, household size, a signature and a self-declaration of income, and that a household below 200% of the federal poverty line is income-eligible. Each pantry sets its own procedures, which is why GCFB's tips start with calling ahead.

55 listings carry a note naming ZIP codes, a restriction, residents, registered clients or appointments, and the table quotes each one, so the limits a site sets are visible before the call.
