Where the listings come from and how they're kept current.
Our method Where the listings come from
Every site, address, phone number and hours line on this site is copied from the Greater Cleveland Food Bank's find-food map page, which carries the full list of 412 mapped sites. We read that one page, keep each listing exactly as GCFB publishes it, and check it again before every build: if any listing has changed, disappeared or been added, the build stops until we collect again.
Hours appear only when our last check of GCFB's listing is 60 days old or less. The build refuses to run past that, and every page also hides its hours in your browser 60 days after our check (our calculation from the check date) in case a rebuild is missed. Our last check: October 19.
What we add is labeled as ours: the "Inside Old Brooklyn" tag (a map check of each site's GCFB map point against the City of Cleveland's Old Brooklyn boundary), straight-line distances, the grouping of mobile pantries by the week their hours name, and the lists of notes that mention holidays or service areas. The finder's distances start from the Census Bureau's representative point for the ZIP Code Tabulation Area you type, not from your address.
While we work to keep this map updated, last-minute changes occur at the site. We encourage you to call them directly before visiting.

The files include geographic identifier codes, names, area measurements, and representative latitude and longitude coordinates.
This file contains ZIP Code tabulation areas based on 2020 Census blocks.
ZCTAs are generalized areal representations of the geographic extent and distribution of the point-based ZIP Codes built using 2020 Census tabulation blocks.
Not all valid ZIP Codes are represented by a 2020 ZCTA.
